The M.V Reef Prince – operated by Kimberley Expeditions, focuses on value for money Kimberley experiences and delivers! Aboard the 38 metre expedition vessel MV Reef Prince you will find yourself cruising through towering gorges and tributaries, travelling ‘down river’ in the excursion tenders and enjoying waterfalls such as King Cascade or the King George Falls. MV Reef Prince is a 38-metre, 36 guest, fully air conditioned, stable catamaran which is perfect for cruising Australia’s northern coast line in comfort and style. The comfortably appointed Reef Prince offers a selection of 18 all en-suited cabins, with a choice of bedding configurations. There are plenty of seating areas available for you to find a quiet corner or socialise with new found friends. Reef Prince features a magnificent upper deck shaded alfresco area where you can relax in comfort, dine and drink while enjoying the breathtaking, panoramic views. On the vast bow we have seating for all guests to enjoy whales, photograph the gorges or to just relax.

The vessel is designed specifically for the northern coast, allowing you to enjoy the many spectacular sights of the Kimberley and Arnhem Land all with an exceptional standard of safety and comfort. Throughout your cruise experience you will also receive personalised and attentive service of the highest standard from our exceptional crew. The crew are there to ensure you have the cruise of a lifetime and all onboard are passionate about the Kimberley region and want to share this amazing place with you. We also carry smaller expedition vessels, which allow guests to choose from a wide variety of activities available such as bush walking, touring waterfalls and gorges, beach picnics and sunset drinks, fishing, mud crabbing and exploring

Kimberley and Arnhem Land Cruises operate with cabin classes. All other cruises are allocation by First In Best Dressed. Cabin accommodation is based on twin share. Packing Suggestions

Toiletries and Medications

We do require you to bring your own private toiletries which include:

  • Personal toiletries/hygiene items (we provide hair-dryers)
  • Prescription medication
  • Vitamins
  • Motion sickness preventative
  • Chapstick
  • Sun protection (sunscreen is provided on-board)
  • Insect repellent (Repellent spray is provided on-board)

Dress Code

We advise guests to pack four to five changes of casual clothing which are comfortable. There is no dress code for dining as a rule, generally “Kimberley casual” attire for evenings is recommended.

Excursions

Light-weight and quick-dry clothing for excursions is recommended. This includes a few pairs of shorts, T-shirts, a long-sleeved shirt and pair of light-weight pants that offer protection against the sun.

Clothing

  • T-shirts/Blouses – Short-sleeved, quick-drying and sun protected
  • Long-sleeved Shirts – Quick drying, sun-protected and breathable (Can be purchased on-board)
  • Jumper/Jacket- Suitable for cooler nights
  • Shorts – Loose, quick-drying and comfortable
  • Pants – Long, light-weight and comfortable.
  • Sleep wear, undergarments and socks
  • Bathing suits for swimmers

Footwear

  • Enclosed walking shoes (sneakers or similar with good ankle support for bush walking).
  • Shoes/Sandals (for on board and scenic excursions)
  • We also recommend you bring another pair of shoes that you do not mind getting wet as we regularly have wet landings
  • Reef shoes or equivalent with good ankle support – a pair of redundant joggers are a cheaper option.

When should I cruise to see the best of the waterfalls?
The best time to see the waterfalls of the Kimberley depending on the magnitude of the wet season rains is April and May.
Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is mandatory on all cruises.
When is the Peak season?
The best time to sail and escape the southern winter chill is from the first of June until the end of August. if there has been a decent wet season waterfalls may still be flowing at the end of august. King Cascades and Prince Regent river are spring fed and so run all year round.
When is whale watching season?
The peak season is July to August.
What do I wear?
We will send you a list of what to pack. Ultimately comfortable clothes for daily activities including footwear you don’t mind getting wet. In the evenings we suggest smart casual attire.
Does my cabin have power?
Every cabin has 240V power points for your appliances.
Will I have access to the internet and phone service?
Once the Reef Prince leaves port there is no service. There is a satellite phone onboard for emergency contact between the ship and land.
What are the meals like?
Our meals are based on healthy local produce and fresh seafood and our chef will tempt your tastebuds with a plethora of culinary delights including our guest’s favourite scones, jam and cream. If you have dietary concerns, let us know so we can adjust your food experience accordingly.
Where can I store my car and camper / caravan?
We have a depot in Broome where you can safely store your vehicle and in Darwin we can recommend a reputable car storage facility. Send us a message through our contact form with your requirements and we can provide you with further information.
